me talking about my new book, recent letters, children’s books, and more by Alison Green on April 30, 2018 I was on Marketplace Weekend this weekend, talking about my new book (which comes out tomorrow!). The segment is about seven minutes and you can listen here: I’m also on the latest Han and Matt Know It All podcast, where we talked about recent Ask a Manager letters, plus discussed letters from several other advice columns around the web. You can listen here (the show is 1 hour, 11 minutes). And I was on the Newbery Tart podcast (a cool show about Newbery Medal winners), talking about AAM, kids’ books, and giving advice to characters from A Wrinkle in Time. You can listen here (the show is 34 minutes). Princess Scrivener* April 30, 2018 at 2:20 pm I’m such a geek–I just found out you’ll be speaking at the Texas Conference for Women on November 9. Yay for my work team attending again this year!
Princess Scrivener* May 1, 2018 at 2:11 pm Absolutely… and may I bring my copy of your book to autograph?
Lygeia* April 30, 2018 at 4:42 pm May I offer a slight correction? The podcast’s name is Han and Matt Know It All. It was a great episode!
Ask a Manager* Post authorApril 30, 2018 at 4:48 pm I totally missed that they’d switched it. Thank you!
Specialk9* April 30, 2018 at 10:45 pm My copy arrived today. I was so excited! I’m 1/3 through. I like how short and sweet the advice nuggets are, while still using scripts that make it actionable. A lot of things I recognize from reading faithfully, but some new-to-me stuff too. Nice to have it all pithy and in one place – like The Art of War, just, ya know, less war-ish.
LeRainDrop* April 30, 2018 at 5:34 pm I’m happy to report that my city library has ordered four copies of your new book for their collection! I emailed them to request it a couple weeks ago, and they responded today to confirm that they should be here in one to two weeks.
LeRainDrop* April 30, 2018 at 5:35 pm By the way, I bought my own copy of your book but thought it was a good idea from other commenters to have the library purchase, as well.
Specialk9* April 30, 2018 at 10:49 pm Good idea! I bought my own copy, and went to my Overdrive account and requested that the library system buy both the audiobook and eBook, in the 3 systems I have cards in. (I pool cards with sibs.) So 6 requests here.
JessB* May 10, 2018 at 3:34 am That is so great! I’m in Australia, and I’m going to ask my library to buy this well. I don’t know how it works elsewhere, but in Australia we have a Lending Rights agreement that means creators get a small payment for every time their book is borrowed, which I find quite awesome!
Vauxhall Prefect* May 1, 2018 at 2:19 am Hi Alison. I’m on a real audiobook kick at the moment, so wondered if you know if the book will end up available as an audiobook internationally? I’m in New Zealand and get a message about the audiobook not being available in my country due to publishing rights restrictions. No worries if you’re not sure or the audiobook won’t be available that widely. But wanted to check if the audiobook will be available before committing to getting the physical book. :)
Ask a Manager* Post authorMay 1, 2018 at 2:21 am Hmm, I know there’s a UK version of the audiobook, but I’m not sure about New Zealand. If you’re getting a message saying it’s not available, that’s probably right!
