The book tackles more than 200 difficult conversations you might need to have during your career (with your boss, your coworkers, your employees, or your job interviewer) and gives you the wording to do it … focusing especially on the awkward and cringey conversations that people dread the most. If you like reading about awkward situations and getting advice and scripts for addressing them, I wrote this for you.

    I’m so glad that this is a regular contest with a drawing! I’m not fond of the contests where they want you to explain why you deserve to win. Sometimes I’m just a private person.

      That’s a great idea. I ordered a copy but I might tell my library about it too. The world would be a better place if more job applicants and employees had this kind of advice.

    I am going to put in a plug for remembering your local independent bookstores as well. As Alison says, pretty much anywhere books are sold. I am ordering a copy for myself and two for friends.

      +1 I am going to buy a paper copy because:
      a. I am grateful that I have the resources at this time – it has not always been that way
      b. I want to support Alison & her labors
      c. I want to support my local bookstore

      I hope some folks win who otherwise would not be able to fit it in the budget. Been there. Sending good juju to those folks, hoping for better times.

    I vaguely remember pre-ordering the book, but I can’t for the life of me remember what bookstore I used. I just moved, so I am hoping it ships USPS so it will be auto-forwarded to my new house! If not, my house’s new owner is going to have an awesome new book!

    I think I’m going to skip this; it seems more inclined for people lucky enough to have a job and won’t have anything for those of us still struggling to get an interview.

      Actually, there’s a whole section on talking to your interviewer! (The book is divided into four sections — talking to your boss, talking to your coworkers, talking to your employees, and talking to your interviewer).
